I've been waiting to hear an official launch date on the smart fortwo, and here's what I've learned so far:
- Spoke to a Mercedes-Benz sales rep in November '08, they said test drives of the car would be available Jan 1st, '08.
- Spoke to a Mercedes-Benz sales rep in San Fran on Jan 2, they said test drives were not available yet because Smart was having some issues getting the cars 'road approved' in the U.S., but should be open for test driving shortly.
- Spoke to a SmartCar phone rep on Jan 3rd, they said the first applications for finalizing a purchase of a smart car would be coming over the next few weeks - no details on a date though.
