The New York Times has a nice little piece on the smartcar going on sale this week? Few points from the article:
- America, the land of 'supersize' - Is this a trend to go small in the u.s.?
- The smart is about a yard! shorter then the mini cooper.
- Been out in Europe for 10 years now.
- California is leading the pack on early orders, with 20% of all orders coming from CA (10% of all cars sold are sold in CA!)
- There are currently 30,000 early orders in (that's over a quarter million at $99 ea.)
From the article:
The car is proving relatively more popular in retirement states like Texas, Arizona and Florida, and in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut commuting corner. But Smart’s reservation clerks have noted anomalies like Omaha and Kansas City, where the reasons behind the reservation blip are not so clear.
